Hi All - I visited Charlie on Tuesday evening. He's in pretty tough
shape. He misses all of you and appreciates all the cards. Hasn't lost
his spunk despite the health trauma:
Charlie: Nurse, I'd like a couple Tylenol to knock this fever down a
bit.
Nurse: We're not allowed to give you anything for fever till it goes
over 100.5 degrees.
Charlie: OK, I have a headache.
Nurse: Would you like the straight Tylenol or a pill with some codeine
for better pain control ?
Charlie: Codeine sounds good.

Keep the cards coming (his sister will bring them to the hospital):

Take care of yourselves out there, life is too damn short,
Best Regards, Dave

PS: To the pilot who sent the bouquet in the car vase adorned with his
contest numbers, nice job ;-)

Doris, Maria and I visited Charlie on Wednesday and he seemed to be in
good spirits, considering he has been in the hospital for five weeks.
We told lots of stories and laughed a lot, which probably did him
good.

He is expecting to be allowed to go home next week, but will continue
on dialisis while waiting for the new kidney to start working.

The other kidney was used on another patient and it began working
within an hour.

He hates hospital food and probably needs to get out of bed more
often, but he is optimistic.
